West Palm Beach, FL – Toddler Hurt, Pregnant Woman Killed in Hit & Run

West Palm Beach, FL - Pedestrian Struck, Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash on Lantana Rd.

West Palm Beach, FL (October 2, 2020) – On the afternoon of Tuesday, September 29, a pregnant woman and a toddler were struck by a vehicle on a roadway in West Palm Beach. The pregnant woman did not survive and the toddler is in critical condition.

The crash occurred in the 3800 block of Pinewood Avenue at approximately 3:07 p.m. this past Tuesday afternoon. Police are searching for a silver Honda Odyssey that allegedly backed over an adult pregnant female and toddler.

Both victims were transported to a nearby medical center where the pregnant woman succumbed to her injuries. The toddler is listed as in critical condition.

A witness stated that the Odyssey was being driven by a Hispanic woman who fled the scene of the collision directly after striking the woman and child.

Neither victim has been identified at this time, as police continue their investigation into the circumstances of the wreck.

No further information is available concerning the incident at this time.

We would like to offer our sincere condolences to the family of the deceased victim at this time.

Florida Hit-and-Runs

Sadly, hit-and-run accidents account for over 20% of the statewide accident rate in Florida. In 2015, there were approximately 90,000 reported hit-and-run accidents in the Sunshine State that injured more than 20,000 people and took the lives of hundreds. It is against the law to leave the scene of an accident, especially when someone was injured, but, regrettably, people do it all the time.

Negligence while driving is an easily preventable mistake made by an unfortunately large number of American drivers. This dangerous behavior causes a very large number of traffic accidents throughout the nation, as well as traffic fatalities. If you have lost a loved one due to the negligence of another person on the road, call a Florida wrongful death attorney as soon as possible to discuss your options for financial compensation.

The most prevalent cause for car accidents to occur in the Sunshine State, currently, is distracted driving, which is another form of negligent driving. The specific action that people most often choose to carry out while driving that puts them in the distracted driving’ category is texting. Texting and driving accounts for nearly one-fourth of all of the car accidents that take place in Florida.

Some other common causes of car accidents in Florida are intoxication, fatigue, and speeding. One must always be alert, cautious, and sober when getting behind the wheel of a vehicle. Failing to do so could result in serious injury or death.

Seeking the assistance of a skilled and knowledgeable Florida accident attorney after involvement in a serious accident is your best bet in receiving full and fair financial compensation for your injuries and losses. Attempting to negotiate a just compensation amount from the insurance company on your own without the skilled assistance of a Florida personal injury lawyer could put you in an undesirable position. Insurance companies often attempt to totally avoid paying compensation or coerce accident victims into settling for a meager amount.

If you or a loved one sustained injuries in a negligently caused car accident, you may be legally entitled to financial compensation depending on the circumstances of your crash. Allow a Florida personal injury attorney to inform you of your existing legal rights, and to help you exercise them in court if need be.

In the horrible event that you have lost someone you love in a traffic accident that was caused by the reckless, careless actions of another person, a Florida wrongful death lawyer could assist you in collecting financial compensation in order to cover things like funeral costs and towering medical bills. The truth remains that nothing could ever replace the loss of a loved one, but monetary recompense can be extremely helpful in covering outstanding costs associated with your loved one’s accident and passing.
