Pompano Beach, FL – Olivia Frolka Loses Life in Fatal Crash on W Atlantic Blvd

Miami, FL - Four Cars Involved in Crash on I-95

Pompano Beach, FL (February 9, 2021) – A 21-year-old woman identified as Olivia Frolka from Michigan lost her life due to a traffic accident that took place in Pompano Beach on February 2. At approximately 2:00 a.m., Broward County officials including police and paramedics were called to the scene of an accident on West Atlantic Boulevard.

According to reports, Frolka was riding in a Lexus being driven by 21-year-old Lesly Maza, of Hollywood, along with Alicia Cruz, 32, of Miami Beach. Maza was headed east at a high rate of speed in the 1400 block of West Atlantic Boulevard when she crossed the Tri-Rail Tracks, just west of I-95.

She lost control of the vehicle while speeding over the tracks. The Lexus spun counterclockwise, struck two street signs and a tree on the passenger side. The vehicle then rotated clockwise and slid toward the westbound lanes of Atlantic Boulevard before coming to a final stop.

Responders with Pompano Beach Fire Rescue transported Cruz and Frolka to Broward Health North where Frolka was pronounced deceased at approximately 5:20 a.m. Cruz’s current health condition has not been reported.

An investigation into the circumstances of the collision will be carried out by local police.

We would like to offer our sincere condolences to the family of the deceased at this time. Our thoughts are with everyone involved in this fatal accident in Pompano Beach.

It was not immediately known if any charges were pending, but court records show Maza has been cited twice before for driving 67 mph in a 45 mph zone and for failing to move over or slow down for an emergency vehicle.
