Ft Lauderdale, FL – Two Killed in Cessna Plane Crash Near I-75 & Everglades
Fort Lauderdale, FL (January 25, 2024) – On Tuesday evening, in Everglades waters off I-75 near Weston, the Broward Sheriff’s Office identified the two fatally injured individuals who were involved in a small plane crash.
Michael Kane, battalion chief of the Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue, said that around 6:30 p.m., the single-engine Cessna 172 Skyhawk departed North Perry Airport in Pembroke Pines, flying a distance of 29 miles before crashing. Responders were notified of the incident on Wednesday morning around 10:30 a.m. Investigations will be conducted by the FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), and no further details have been released in the meantime.
