Pembroke Pines, FL - Three Killed, One Injured in Plane Crash at N Perry Airport

Pembroke Pines, FL (March 19, 2021) – A 4-year-old boy in South Florida died after a small plane crashed into his mother’s SUV on Monday afternoon, March 15.

According to officers, the crash also claimed the lives of two other people. A small Beechcraft airplane had taken off from North Perry Airport in Pembroke Pines, just west of Fort Lauderdale, before 3:00 p.m. FAA investigators said that the plane was forced to turn back around shortly after takeoff. As it turned around, the aircraft clipped a power line and collided with an SUV that was driving on a road next to the airport, a few hundred feet from the runway.

The woman driving the SUV, as well as her 4-year-old son, sustained injuries. The woman was able to get out of the SUV and tried to free her son. Firefighters eventually freed the trapped child and rushed both victims to an area medical center, where the little boy died.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing at this time. There is no additional information available.

We would like to extend our most sincere condolences to the families of the victims who were killed. Our thoughts are with those injured in hopes of a full recovery.

Plane Crashes in Florida

Despite a decline in plane accidents over the last 10 years, there are still dozens of these incidents in Florida each year, particularly due to Florida’s status as a destination state for vacation. In fact, according to the Aviation Safety Network, there were nearly 500 plane crash deaths in 2018 alone. The Sunshine State was the site of many of these plane accident deaths.

Certainly, there is nothing more devastating than the sudden loss of a family member due to a plane crash in Florida. During this time, your focus should rightfully be on your family and moving forward following a sudden tragedy. The last thing you should have to worry about is a legal case. Fortunately, there is help available. Under Florida law, the deceased victim’s next-of-kin or legal representative has the ability to file a wrongful death claim in order to recover valuable compensation. While no amount of money can replace the loss of a family member, the money you receive can help to offset the sudden and unexpected financial burdens that you may be facing.
