Hit-and-Run Accidents in Florida

Hit-and-run crashes in Florida continue to pose a major problem. In 2019, more than 20% of all reported motor vehicle accidents were classified as hit-and-run. This amounts to more than 100,000 hit-and-run accidents across our state annually. The law requires drivers to remain at the scene of an accident. However, many people choose to ignore the law in an effort to avoid taking responsibility for their actions. These individuals often do so knowing that their own negligence has resulted in a serious accident.

A hit-and-run case presents complicated legal and factual issues. In these cases, it is important to understand your legal rights as well as your potential sources of recovery. In a Florida hit-and-run crash, you could be entitled to collect money from your own insurance policy, as well as the applicable insurance policy of the other driver. Even if the other driver is never located, you could still recover compensation from your insurance. Having a lawyer by your side that understands these issues is very important to ensure that you are fully compensated for the accident.
