Bicycle Accidents in Florida

Florida is home to many bicyclists. With a temperate climate, bicycles can be seen on our roadways throughout the year. Bicycling is an excellent form of exercise and many people also ride bicycles as a form of transportation. With this, however, comes the risk of being involved in a crash. While Florida bicycle accidents are not as common as crashes involving passenger vehicles and other types of vehicles, these types of accidents do occur quite frequently across our state. A bicycle accident in Florida can lead to very negative results, including serious injuries and even death. According to some more recent statistics, there were 148 deaths and 6,175 reported injuries due to bicycle crashes in Florida in 2018.

The cause of a bicycle crash must be carefully investigated by authorities. Many of these accidents result from careless and negligent drivers. Drivers who fail to see or yield to bicyclists are a common cause of bicycle crashes. Following the accident, an injured bicyclist should seek the services of a qualified Florida bicycle accident attorney as soon as possible.
