Fatal Car Accidents in Florida

There is certainly nothing more devastating than the loss of a friend or family member to a Florida car accident. Fatal accidents occur in our state each day. On average, a deadly crash is reported about once every three hours. In 2019, more than 3,000 individuals were killed in car accidents throughout our state, making Florida one of the more deadly places in the nation for motorists. Certainly, these numbers are a grim reminder of the dangers of driving on Florida’s streets and highways.

The cause of each fatal accident must be carefully investigated by authorities. Some common causes of serious and fatal car accidents in Florida include speeding, distracted driving, reckless driving, failing to yield at traffic signals, and impairment. All of these driving behaviors are considered forms of negligent driving that can cause catastrophic consequences and the loss of innocent lives. If your loved one was killed in a car accident that was not their fault, Florida law may provide a remedy for you.

Under our state’s wrongful death statute, a deceased victim’s next-of-kin may bring a wrongful death claim against the person responsible for the fatality. These cases are complicated and require the assistance of a skilled attorney who is familiar with wrongful death laws.
