Florida Hit-and-Run Accidents
Hit-and-run crashes in Florida are some of the most dangerous and deadly types of accidents that take place on our roadways. Unfortunately, hit-and-run collisions make up a substantial portion of all reported crashes in our state. In 2019, there were more than 100,000 of these accidents reported. A hit-and-run accident in West Park is a very serious and life-altering event and can leave victims with catastrophic injuries. In the worst-case scenario, the crash can lead to death.
Under Florida law, drivers are required to remain at the scene of an accident that results in injuries. While the law provides for harsh penalties, many drivers choose not to remain at the scene and will flee the area in order to avoid responsibility for their actions. These drivers can face both civil and criminal repercussions once they are apprehended, including a lawsuit filed by an injured victim or their family.
Hit-and-run accidents present some of the most difficult and complicated legal scenarios. Only an experienced car accident attorney can handle these cases and ensure that you receive the full compensation that you deserve. In some cases, the driver may not be located. A South Florida car accident attorney can help you receive compensation despite this fact.
