West Miami-Dade, FL – Four Killed in New Year’s Day Crash on NW 79th. Ave.

West Miami-Dade, FL (January 2, 2021) – A New Year’s Day crash in West Miami-Dade left four people dead and three others injured. The crash was reported just before 4:00 a.m. on Northwest 79th Avenue near the intersection with Flagler Street.
According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, a blue Elantra with four adults was traveling on 79th Avenue when the driver attempted to make a left turn onto Flagler Street. As the driver turned, the vehicle collided with a black Tahoe that had three 16-year-old occupants inside. All four adults in the Elantra, a woman and three men, died at the crash scene. The 16-year-olds inside the Tahoe were all taken to Kendall Regional Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. None of the crash victims have been identified by authorities.
The roadway remained closed for several hours after the crash took place. Investigators are still looking into the accident at this time and no charges have yet been issued. Troopers believe that alcohol, speed, or drugs may have played a role in the accident. There is no additional information available at this time.
