Trampoline Park Accidents

Trampoline_Park

Some people look at a trampoline park and see nothing but trouble. What good can come from increasing numbers of children of increasing size jumping with increasing enthusiasm on inflatable structures held together by flimsy nets? Some parents might see a trampoline park as a minefield for conflict. They are experienced enough at parenting to know that, if their children fight over something mildly amusing, such a marshmallow, they will have a knock down, drag out apocalyptic war over the spot that they agree is the most fun part of the trampoline park, never mind that a trampoline park is designed to hold enough fun for everyone. Germophobes focus on the vast number of germy fingers that have touched the tent flaps at the entrance to the bounce house and the vast number of stinky-socked feet that have bounced inside. The parents of young children fear that a bigger child will accidentally land on their small child if they bounce on the same trampoline. All of those fears go away, though, when summer is almost over, and your choice is to go to the trampoline park or spend another day at home with your children clicking aimlessly on AI brain rot content on their devices. Most of the time, trampoline park visits begin and end without anyone getting injured, but when a guest at a trampoline park suffers a preventable injury because of poorly maintained equipment, the trampoline park is legally responsible. If you got injured in an accident at a trampoline park, contact a Fort Lauderdale premises liability lawyer.

Child Hospitalized After Falling From Zip Line at Trampoline Park

On September 1, 2019, a 10-year-old boy attended a friend’s birthday party at Urban Air Trampoline and Adventure Park in Lakeland. He rode the Sky Rider zip line ride, which transports riders above the concrete floor of the trampoline park. During the ride, his harness came loose, and he fell, landing on the concrete floor. He suffered a concussion, a collapsed lung, and several broken bones.

The boy received treatment for his injuries at Tampa General Hospital, including emergency surgery at the hospital’s trauma center. He recovered from his injuries to the point that he was able to resume his school attendance in November, but he continued to have symptoms. The boy’s mother filed a lawsuit against Urban Air Trampoline and Adventure Park. According to the lawsuit, surveillance camera footage showed that the employee who fastened the boy’s harness before the zip line ride did not fasten the leg restraints properly.

Most trampoline parks ask visitors to sign liability waivers and post signs that say things like, “Play at your own risk.” These are mostly wishful thinking, and they do not absolve the owners of recreational facilities of the responsibility to maintain the facilities in safe condition.
