South Miami-Dade, FL – Two Killed in RV Crash on Florida’s Turnpike

South Miami-Dade, FL (January 9, 2021) – Two people died after a fiery crash involving an RV in South Miami-Dade on Tuesday, January 5th. The accident happened just before 4:00 p.m. on Florida’s Turnpike near Southwest 123rd Avenue.

The Florida Highway Patrol and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue arrived on the scene just after the accident took place. According to investigators, an RV was towing a red Jeep in the southbound lanes of the Turnpike. Suddenly, and for unknown reasons, the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to veer off the roadway and strike a concrete wall. One man was ejected from the RV and died at the scene. The vehicle caught fire, trapping a woman inside. She was pulled from the RV and taken to a local hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

Neither of the two victims has been identified at this time. Police are still investigating the crash to determine the cause and there is no additional information available.
