Palm Beach Gardens, FL - Fatal Pedestrian Wreck on Florida’s Turnpike

Palm Beach Gardens, FL (July 15. 2021) – A woman from West Palm Beach lost her life late Tuesday, July 13 when she was hit by a car on the Florida Turnpike near the PGA Boulevard exit in Palm Beach Gardens.

The woman, whose name has not been released at this time, was said to have been a passenger in a pickup that had left the roadway for reasons not reported.

The woman was standing outside the truck when she was hit by an SUV. She was transported to St. Mary’s Medical Center in West Palm Beach where she later died. The driver of the pickup truck also sustained serious injuries and was transported to an area medical center for treatment.

No one involved has been identified at this time. Police in West Palm Beach continue to investigate.

We would like to offer our sincere condolences to the family of the deceased at this time.

Pedestrian Collisions in Florida

According to recent statistics, around three-fourths of all Florida pedestrian crashes result in at least an emergency room visit for the victim(s) if not a prolonged hospital stay. Nearly 20% of pedestrian collisions end in victims needing hospitalization and extended care. Pedestrians often suffer injuries in traffic accidents that are severe and long-lasting. These injuries can linger and require treatment for many months or even years after the accident occurs.

Due to the severe nature of injuries suffered in pedestrian accidents, it is important to make sure that you have a skilled and experienced lawyer in your corner who is willing and able to fight for you. Following the accident, you should not speak to the insurance adjuster until you have had an opportunity to seek counsel. The adjuster may attempt to settle your claim quickly and in an unfair manner. If you choose to do this, you will likely not receive the full compensation to which you are entitled. Prior to settling any case, you must evaluate your total damages, including future medical costs that you may encounter due to your injuries. Settling too soon jeopardizes your future because the settlement may not take all of your costs into account.
