Fatal Accidents in Florida

According to statistics from the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, there are approximately 400,000 reported car accidents in Florida every year. In 2019, more than 3,000 people tragically lost their lives in crashes across our state. Many serious and fatal accidents take place on major roadways such as the Florida’s Turnpike. These roads typically have higher traffic volume, higher speed limits, and a larger concentration of negligent drivers. These factors combine to make driving on highways an especially dangerous activity. Motorists should always be aware of their own surroundings and should take steps to lower their risk of being involved in a crash.

Following a Florida car accident, you are likely feeling frustrated and overwhelmed. If you have lost a loved one in the crash, these feelings can be magnified. There is nothing more devastating than the loss of a family member, especially if the crash was not their fault. Under Florida law, a deceased victim’s next-of-kin may be able to file a claim for wrongful death following a fatal crash. Wrongful death claims allow a family to obtain much-needed financial assistance following a sudden tragedy.
