Opa Locka, FL - Three Hospitalized in Three-Wheel Vehicle Crash

Opa Locka, FL (December 26, 2020) – Three people, including an 11-year-old child, were taken to the hospital after a three-wheeled vehicle crash in Opa Locka on Christmas Day. The crash took place before noon in a residential area of the city.

According to a report, a man in his 30s began giving rides to neighborhood children in a Vanderhall Venice roadster. The man, known as “Pooh,” was driving the vehicle with his 11-year-old cousin and another girl when they approached a driveway. A car backing out of the driveway caused the Vanderhall to swerve and collide with another three-wheeled vehicle that was also going through the neighborhood.

Paramedics arrived at the scene and began treating the injured victims. The 11-year-old was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital with facial fractures and required multiple stitches. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. Both “Pooh” and another adult victim were also taken to Jackson Memorial with undisclosed injuries. There is no word on their condition at this time.

Police are still investigating the crash at this time. There is no information on whether charges are expected to be filed and no additional details are available.

We are saddened to hear of this accident in Opa Locka. Our thoughts are with the victims as they continue to recover.

Florida Car Accidents

According to statistics published by NHTSA, a reportable car accident in Florida takes place about once every 90 seconds. While not every crash results in injuries, many of them will. Last year in our state, approximately 250,000 people were hurt in automobile accidents. Many of these injured victims were involved in crashes that were not their fault. Children, passengers, and drivers involved in multi-vehicle crashes are injured daily in accidents caused by someone else’s negligence.

If you or a loved one have suffered injuries in a Florida car accident that was not your fault, you may have valuable legal rights. Under Florida law, victims of injury crashes may be entitled to file a legal claim for compensation. This can include a claim for payment of medical and prescription bills, pain and suffering, and any lost wages that are incurred due to the accident. In cases of serious injuries, these amounts can be substantial and may also include an amount needed for future medical treatment.
