Florida Pedestrian Crashes

Statistics show that over 25% of all traffic-related accidents in the United States involve a pedestrian. Statistics also show that over 75% of pedestrian accidents in Florida end with someone needing hospitalization. Pedestrian accidents are indeed one of the most dangerous types of existing traffic-related accidents.

There were 5,433 pedestrian deaths in Florida between 2008 and 2017. This averages out to almost 3 people per 100,000. At this rate, Florida has the highest rate of pedestrian deaths in the nation.

Pedestrians are at an increased risk of suffering severe and/or fatal injuries in traffic accidents due to being totally unprotected while traveling alongside much larger, faster vehicles. The consequences of serious pedestrian accidents can be extremely overwhelming and negatively affect multiple areas of a person’s life, including their physical, mental, emotional, and financial health. When a person is killed in a negligently caused pedestrian crash, it is crucial that their family seek legal guidance from a qualified and skilled Florida wrongful death attorney at their earliest convenience. Family members could qualify for financial compensation in order to pay for things like outstanding medical bills, funeral costs, and other costs associated with their loved one’s accident.

If you or someone you love has recently been injured in a Florida pedestrian accident, a Florida personal injury attorney will be able to inform you of your existing legal rights toward monetary compensation. Generally speaking, when someone acts in a negligent or careless manner that results in injuries to another person, under the legal principle of “negligence” the careless party will be legally liable for any resulting harm.
