Miami, FL - Man Killed, Woman Hurt in Helicopter Crash Near 184th Ave

Miami, FL (December 28, 2023) – On Wednesday, authorities in southwest Miami-Dade County reported that a man had died and a woman had been seriously hurt after a helicopter crash into a canal.

According to authorities from the Federal Aviation Administration, a Hughes 369 helicopter that was en route from Fort Myers crashed at around 1:50 p.m. in the vicinity of Southwest 184th Avenue and 122nd Street, which is approximately three miles west of Miami Executive Airport. The helicopter was seen by witnesses to be spinning before it went into the canal, per police. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue stated one deceased victim was pulled from the water, while a woman was transported to a nearby hospital.  In the interim, the crash’s cause is under investigation by the FAA.

We extend our sincere condolences to the deceased victim’s family. Our thoughts are with the injured victims in hopes of their complete recovery.
