Miami, FL – Fatal Drowning Reported in Miami River Near I-95

Miami, FL (February 24, 2024) – On Saturday, the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and Miami and Miami-Dade fire rescue personnel were dispatched to a reported drowning in the Miami River.

At approximately 4:00 p.m., witnesses informed Miami police officers that the victim had fallen from a white cabin cruiser boat and drowned. Specialized divers spent several hours in the water searching in the Brickell-Downtown Miami area, in close proximity to Interstate 95 and Fourth and Fifth Streets. It’s unclear if the victim was recovered or if any citations or charges will be filed against those operating the boat; however, the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
