Car Accidents in Florida

Florida is one of the most dangerous places in the nation for motorists and others on the roadways. According to the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, there were 401,867 total traffic accidents in Florida in 2019 and 236,753 reported injuries. These numbers average out to about 1,100 car accidents across our state each day. From these statistics, it is easy to understand and appreciate the dangers of driving in Florida, especially given the number of careless and negligent drivers on our roadways who are responsible for many of these crashes in the first place.

Following a Florida car accident, you are likely to have questions about your future and how to move forward. Car accidents often result in painful injuries that can last for weeks and months after the crash. You may be facing a long road to recovery and high financial costs as you struggle to move forward along your path to recovery. When you have been injured in a crash that was someone else’s fault you may also feel angry and incredibly frustrated at the situation. During this time, it is important to have a full understanding of your legal rights and how you can help yourself move forward and secure your future.

Under Florida law, if you were hurt in a crash that was not your fault, you may be entitled to receive compensation for your injuries. The amount of compensation that you receive will depend on the severity of the accident, the amount of your medical bills, and whether you missed work as a result of the crash. Many people will try to handle their claims on their own and will end up with a settlement that fails to take into account the full value of their case.
