Florida Hit-and-Run Crashes

Hit-and-run accidents continue to be a major issue in our state. With over more than 100,000 reported hit-and-run crashes in Florida reported in 2019, it is apparent that many drivers who are involved in crashes are attempting to avoid responsibility for their actions. More than 20% of all reported car accidents in our state are now classified as a hit-and-run collision. The law requires drivers to remain at the scene of all injury accidents and failing to do so can result in serious criminal penalties, including jail time and conviction of a felony offense.

Unfortunately, despite the law, many drivers choose not to remain at the scene. Normally, these drivers flee the crash knowing that they are responsible for a catastrophic crash. In most cases, the driver’s negligence has caused the accident to occur. When these drivers are apprehended, they will face both civil and criminal liability for their actions.

A Florida hit-and-run accident presents complicated claims of legal liability. It is important to find all possible sources of compensation in a hit-and-run accident. Many hit-and-run drivers do not carry sufficient insurance so having a skilled and experienced attorney who can make sure that you receive compensation is crucial.
