Hollywood, FL – Rear-End Wreck Causes Injuries, Closure of FL Trnpke

Hollywood, FL (October 8, 2023) – Early on Sunday, the Florida Turnpike was shut down to all traffic save for two lanes southbound after a crash in the Hollywood area.

According to troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol, the collision took place in the southbound lanes near Mile Marker 48 just as traffic started to slow in the area.

There were reports of injuries, though the cause of the incident remained unclear.

The accident caused officials to shut down all southbound lanes, and drivers were encouraged to detour onto Highway 441. An investigation into the cause of the crash remains ongoing in the interim.
