Golf Cart Accident on Las Olas Boulevard

When you ride a golf cart on a golf course, yours is the fastest and most powerful vehicle around. Those old fogeys hauling their golf clubs around on foot cannot catch you. While they are making jokes about how golf is a nice walk ruined by a little white ball, you are already at the next hole, and one step closer to sipping scotch and soda at the country club bar. If you have ever ridden a golf cart around the grounds of an elementary or middle school or a summer camp, everyone is in awe of your motor vehicle. You might as well be driving a Cybertruck or a Ferrari. When you drive the same golf cart in vehicular traffic, it immediately becomes obvious how puny your vehicle is. This is why some jurisdictions do not allow golf carts and similar low speed vehicles on public roads. It is true that motorcycles also do not offer any protection in the form of vehicular structure, but at least motorcycles can go fast and sound intimidating. The same cannot be said of golf carts, long believed to be the province of old men in plaid trousers. If you have been injured in a collision between a golf cart and a car on a public road in South Florida, contact a Fort Lauderdale auto accident attorney.
A Golf Cart Is No Match for Even a Small Car
Every generation has its own cheeseburger themed jokes. For the Millennials who grew up with MySpace and other websites meant to cater to idle minds, there were the “I Can Has Cheezburger” memes, with the pictures of cute cats and nonsensical quotations. A generation earlier, the teens who came of age in the late 1970s laughed endlessly at the Saturday Night Live sketches about the Olympia Café, where cheeseburgers were the only menu item available. The chain of restaurants in South Florida, Cheeburger Cheeburger, took its name from them.
The flagship Cheeburger Cheeburger restaurant on Las Olas Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale is long gone, but even without it, the attractions of Las Olas, from the rotating cast of art installations to the high-end shower gel shops to the diner with Wizard of Oz Themed décor, contribute to its image as a place to travel at a leisurely pace, to take in the sights.
In September 2020, a rented Chevrolet Impala was speeding on Las Olas Boulevard, and it rear-ended the golf cart that was driving in front of it. The golf cart tipped over on its side, and both of its occupants suffered injuries. Alex Jean and Stephanie Chocron, the driver and passenger in the golf cart, were transported to Broward Health Medical Center. Their injuries were not life-threatening. The driver of the Impala left the scene of the accident and was not identified.
