Ft Lauderdale, FL - Three Hospitalized After Crash at Canal on 33rd Ave

Fort Lauderdale, FL (January 28, 2024) – Authorities are investigating after a male driver was left hospitalized after a crash in Fort Lauderdale Thursday afternoon. Following the wreck, one of the vehicles ran off the road and plunged into a canal near the 5100 block of Northwest 33rd Avenue.

Authorities said Oakland Park Fire Rescue responded to the area after receiving a report of a vehicle fully submerged in a canal with the driver still inside. Upon arrival, first responders entered the water and were able to get the male out of the silver Nissan Altima and back onto land where they performed CPR, police said. Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue transported the male to Florida Medical Center in critical condition, according to authorities. Police said two officers sustained minor injuries due to this incident, though it’s unclear if they were involved in the wreck. An investigation is ongoing.

Our thoughts are extended to the injured victims and their loved ones in hopes of their full recovery.
