Pedestrian Crashes in Florida

Pedestrian accidents take place in Florida every day. According to some of the more recent statistics, about 75% of all Florida pedestrian crashes result in a trip to the emergency room for the injured person. Approximately 20% of pedestrian accidents require hospitalization and extended care. It is common for a pedestrian to suffer injuries that are both serious and long-lasting. These injuries can linger and require treatment for many months or even years after the accident occurs.

Due to the nature of injuries suffered in pedestrian accidents, it is important to make sure that you have an attorney on your side who is willing to fight for you. Following the accident, you should not speak to the insurance adjuster until you have had an opportunity to seek counsel. The adjuster may want to settle your claim quickly. If you choose to do this, you will likely not receive the full compensation to which you are entitled. Prior to settling any case, you must evaluate your total damages, including future medical costs that you may incur. Settling too soon jeopardizes your future because the settlement may not take all of your costs into account.
