Fort Lauderdale, FL (June 20, 2021) – One person was killed and another was seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle at the beginning of a Pride parade in Fort Lauderdale on Saturday.

According to the Fort Lauderdale Police Department, a 77-year-old man was driving in the parade when he unintentionally crashed into a group of parade participants. One of the individuals was killed while another was rushed to a local hospital with serious injuries. After striking the pedestrians, the man continued, crossing all lanes of traffic and collided with a fence on the other side of the road. Neither the man nor the victims have been identified at this time. Police do not believe that either drugs or alcohol were factors in the collision.

No charges have been filed at this time. An investigation into the crash remains ongoing at this time.
