Florida City, FL – Fatal Motorcycle Crash on Hwy 1

Florida City, FL (January 5, 2020) – At approximately 11:15 a.m. on December 31, a fatal motorcycle crash occurred on Highway 1 in Florida City. Authorities stated that the accident occurred near mile marker 114 on the Miami-Dade County side of the 18-Mile Stretch. 

The crash occurred on the portion of Highway One that connects Key Largo to Florida City for reasons still under local law enforcement investigation. Few details concerning the circumstances of the collision have currently been disclosed to the public. 

At least one person lost their life in the fatal crash. It is believed that a motorcycle and another vehicle were involved in a collision. Traffic was backed up for miles for the better part of the afternoon on December 31 due to the crash and the investigation that followed. 

Traffic in the area was diverted to Card Sound Road for a period of time following the fatal incident. No one involved in the accident has been identified to the public at this point in time.
