Pedestrian Accidents in Florida

Florida is one of the most dangerous states in the nation for pedestrian crashes. Between 2008 and 2017, there were 5,433 pedestrian deaths reported in our state. In addition to this number, thousands more suffered injuries in these crashes, many of them serious injuries. According to current statistics, about 25% of all Florida pedestrian accidents result in hospitalization and nearly 75% will cause a visit to the emergency room. Some common types of injuries sustained in Florida pedestrian crashes include broken bones, head injuries, spinal cord trauma, and more.

Following a pedestrian accident in Florida, police must carefully investigate the cause. Many of these crashes occur due to the negligence of motorists. Drivers who fail to yield to pedestrians or who are otherwise distracted are a frequent cause of these accidents. When a pedestrian has been injured by a negligent driver, they may have valuable rights under Florida law. This includes the right to recover for damages caused by the accident, including pain and suffering, medical bills, lost wages, and more. In order to ensure that you receive the compensation that you deserve, it is important to get in touch with a pedestrian accident attorney in Florida as soon as possible.
