Boynton Beach, FL – Two Killed in Fatal Semi Crash on Florida’s Turnpike near 84 Mile Post
Boynton Beach, FL (July 26, 2021) – A semi-truck crashed into a canal on Florida’s Turnpike in Boynton Beach on the afternoon of Thursday, July 22. As a result of the incident, two people lost their lives and a third sustained injuries, according to reports.
Sources state that two cars were driving slowly in stop-and-go traffic headed south on Florida’s Turnpike near milepost 84 when a truck driver was unable to slow down and collided with the two vehicles.
After the crash, the truck drove over a concrete bridge into a canal where he crashed into a passenger boat. The tractor-trailer then sank into the canal while the tanker was dangling from the bridge.
The vehicles involved collided with the guardrail, one of them getting crushed due to the impact from the truck. That vehicle caught fire and the driver, a 42-year-old Loxahatchee woman, lost her life at the scene.
The driver of the truck was transported to Delray Medical Center in critical condition where he later lost his life. The driver of the other vehicle, a 37-year-old female from Royal Palm, sustained minor injuries in the crash.
Nothing further has been reported at this time as police continue to investigate.
We would like to offer our sincere condolences to the family of the deceased at this time. Our thoughts are with those involved.
