Bonita Springs, FL – 4-Vehicle Crash Leaves 2 Dead on Bernwood Pkwy

Bonita Springs, FL (November 17, 2023) – Two people were killed during a multi-vehicle collision in Bonita Springs on Thursday, November 16th. the Florida Highway Patrol and the Lee County Sheriff’s Office both responded to the scene at the intersection of Bernwood Parkway and South Tamiami Trail at about 8:25 p.m. for reports of a four-car accident. 

Local reports indicate that the driver of an SUV rear-ended a sedan in the southbound lanes of Tamiami Trail. The force of the impact redirected the sedan over the raised center median and into oncoming traffic where it struck a northbound motorcycle. The impact forced the motorcycle into the side of another northbound vehicle, throwing the bike’s driver and passenger from the vehicle.

A 59-year-old woman and a 61-year-old man died at the scene. Everyone else involved in the collision sustained no or non-life-threatening injuries. 

This accident remains under police investigation. A spokesperson for the Florida Highway Patrol has said that charges are pending.
