West Palm Beach, FL – Three Hospitalized After Truck Wreck on SR 80

West Palm Beach, FL (January 6, 2024) – According to Palm Beach County Rescue and the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, a tractor-trailer and a passenger vehicle were involved in a collision late Friday in the Belle Glade area.

State 80/Southern Avenue was the PBCFR Units’ dispatch location at around 11:00 p.m. A PBSO collision report states that a 62-year-old Belle Glade woman was driving a 1997 Freightliner when she turned eastbound onto State Road 80. Another woman, a 41-year-old from Lehigh Acres, was also headed eastward in a 2021 Toyota Corolla when the wreck occurred.

After the collision, TraumaHawk transported two critically injured children—a 14-year-old girl and a 10-year-old boy—to West Palm Beach’s St. Mary’s Medical Center. The driver of the car was also hurt and hospitalized, but the truck driver did not sustain injuries. An investigation into the cause of the wreck remains ongoing in the interim.
