Volusia County, FL – Fatal Multi-Vehicle Crash on I-95 near SR-442
Volusia County, FL (August 9, 2021) – A 33-year-old man lost his life on the night of Sunday, August 8 in a vehicle accident in Volusia County. Two others were injured, according to information from officials.
A man was traveling south on I-95 in an SUV behind another SUV at approximately 10:30 p.m. They were both near the SR-442 exit driving at about 15 miles per hour due to the second SUV, being driven by a 16-year-old male, having a mechanical issue.
A pickup truck, driven by a 52-year-old man from New Smyrna, was approaching the rear-end of the 33-year-old’s SUV and was unable to stop before striking it. Following the wreck, the SUV then struck the 16-year-old’s SUV.
The first SUV then overturned and ejected the 33-year-old, who was only identified as a man from Miami. He was pronounced deceased at the scene, according to reports.
Other drivers involved suffered minor injuries in the crash. Police continue to investigate.
