Vero Beach, FL – Two Critically Hurt in When Truck Crashes into Home

Pembroke Pines, FL - Three Killed, One Injured in Plane Crash at N Perry Airport

Vero Beach, FL (February 28, 2021) – Two people suffered critical injuries when a suspected drunk driver crashed into their home early Saturday morning. The incident happened in the 200 block of 27th Avenue Southwest.

The Indian River County Sheriff’s Office responded to the accident scene. According to a report from deputies, a man driving a black Ford F-250 was involved in a crash with a Kia Optima. The Ford was towing a trailer at the time of the collision. Following the initial impact, the truck veered off the roadway and traveled through the front yard of a home before crashing through a bedroom window. Two occupants of the home, a male and a female, were asleep when the truck crashed through the room. They were both pinned beneath the vehicle. Paramedics arrived at the scene and transported both residents to nearby hospitals with critical, life-threatening injuries. Their names have not been revealed.

The truck driver fled on foot but was later arrested and charged with several offenses related to impaired driving and injuries.

Injury Accidents in Florida

Approximately 250,000 people are injured in Florida car accidents every year. While many people who are hurt are directly involved in the crash itself, some victims are merely innocent bystanders. An accident can affect anyone who is in the general vicinity of the collision at the time, including pedestrians and those inside buildings who are at or near the crash scene. Ultimately, any bystander who suffers injuries due to the behaviors of a negligent driver may have a claim for compensation under Florida law.

If you have been injured in an accident, you could be entitled to receive compensation for your injuries. This includes payment for your pain and suffering, lost wages, medical bills, and potentially more. In some cases, you may also be entitled to punitive damages if the driver’s conduct was especially negligent and reckless. Before you begin trying to handle the claim on your own, it is important to speak with an experienced car accident lawyer in Florida.
