Sunrise, FL – Three-Car Crash Takes One Life on University Drive near NW 79th Ave

Hallandale Beach, FL - Three Injured in Rollover Crash on I-95

Sunrise, FL (January 25, 2021)  – A deadly, three-car traffic collision took one life on Saturday, January 23, on a roadway in Sunrise at approximately 11:00 p.m.

The head-on crash left one individual deceased at the scene. Reports show that a driver who was likely impaired was headed north in the southbound lanes of University Drive. While they were approaching Northwest 79th Avenue, they struck two other cars, one of them head-on. 

The 42-year-old wrong-way driver was in a Chevy Tahoe, according to authorities. The driver of one of the other vehicles was ejected from their vehicle due to the force of the collision and died at the site of the crash.

The driver of the Tahoe was transported to Broward Health Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale with injuries deemed minor in nature. No one involved in the crash has been identified at this point in time. 

An ongoing investigation into the circumstances of the accident will be carried out by area authorities.
