Fatal Car Accidents in Florida
Last year, more than 3,000 people died in car accidents that took place in Florida. Crashes caused by drug and alcohol impairment continue to cause major havoc and disruption. According to the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, there were 4,984 alcohol-confirmed crashes and 730 drug-confirmed crashes in 2019. A total of 699 people were killed in these crashes combined and thousands more were injured. The rate of injuries and death in crashes involving suspected impairment is much higher than the rate for crashes involving non-impaired drivers. Impaired drivers lack to awareness and reaction time that is needed to fully appreciate the dangers and risks of driving. For that reason, crashes involving these drivers are often some of the most serious and deadly accidents that we see in our state on a daily basis.
