Sunrise, FL – One Killed in Head-On Crash with DUI Driver on University Dr.
Sunrise, FL (January 24, 2021) – Three vehicles were involved in a head-on accident with an impaired driver on Saturday night in Sunrise. The crash happened around 11:00 p.m. in the southbound lanes of University Drive.
According to officials, a driver was traveling northbound in a Chevy Tahoe in the southbound lanes of University Drive when their vehicle struck two other cars head-on. The driver of the second vehicle was thrown from their car following the crash and was pronounced dead by officials at the accident scene. The Tahoe driver was taken to Broward Health Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries. No one in the third car was hurt.
Following an investigation, police determined that the Tahoe driver was impaired. There is no word on charges at this time. No further details regarding the accident are available.
