Florida Car Crashes

A car accident takes place in Florida approximately once every 84 seconds or over 1,000 times per day. Each year, there are around 400,000 auto collisions in Florida that cause over 250,000 injuries and more than 3,000 deaths.

These collisions can take place for a number of different reasons, but the current leading cause of car accidents in Florida is distracted driving, specifically texting and driving, which accounts for approximately 16% of the fatal accident rate in Florida. Speeding is another leading cause of Florida auto accidents, causing 426 fatal auto accidents in Florida in 2017. This is approximately 14% of the statewide accident fatality rate. These are both negligent human behaviors that can easily be prevented with mindfulness and increased attention while driving. It is important to stay alert, aware, and sober while driving in order to keep yourself and others safe while on the road.

Being involved and injured in a Florida auto accident can bring unprecedented stress and pain into your life and into the lives of those you love. That pain can be exacerbated when you are under the impression that your accident and injuries were caused by another person’s negligence. For instance, if the other person involved in your collision was texting while driving, speeding, or intoxicated when the accident took place, they need to be held accountable for their negligent actions that ultimately caused your injuries. You are also eligible for significant financial compensation if involved and injured in a traffic accident caused by another person.
