St. Lucie County, FL - One Killed, One Hurt in Sunday Crash on Turnpike

St. Lucie County, FL (August 8, 2021) – The Florida Highway Patrol responded to the scene of a fatal crash on the Florida’s Turnpike on Sunday, August 8th. The crash was reported just before 4:00 a.m. near mile marker 161.

According to a report, a 21-year-old man from Tallahassee was driving a sedan northbound on the Turnpike. At the same time, a 54-year-old man from Davie was also driving northbound, also in a sedan. The Davie man collided with the rear-end of the first sedan. The first sedan veered off the road and rolled over before coming to rest on its roof The second sedan came to rest on the eastbound shoulder.  The 54-year-old man died at the scene while the 21-year-old man sustained serious injuries and was taken to a local hospital. Neither of the victims have been identified at this time.

An investigation into the accident is ongoing. There is no additional information available.
