Pompano Beach, FL – Woman Dies in Hit-and-Run on 31st Ave

Pompano Beach, FL (December 29, 2023) – An SUV struck and killed a pedestrian early Friday morning, and the driver left the scene, according to detectives from the Broward County Sheriff’s Office.

According to investigators, the incident took place near Pompano Beach’s 1400 block of Northwest 31st Avenue just after 6:30 a.m. The body of a woman was discovered by emergency personnel upon their arrival. According to investigators, the victim was crossing Northwest 31st Avenue from the Florida Turnpike in a westbound direction when a black Chevrolet Suburban or Tahoe, model years 2017 to 2020, was heading southbound. The SUV allegedly did not stop after hitting her and continued traveling south. An investigation is ongoing, and witnesses who may have information on the SUV’s driver were asked to call BSO.
