Miami, FL – Three Injured in Workplace Accident in Salmon Farm Tank at 22275 SW 272nd St
Miami, FL (April 13, 2021) – Three people were hospitalized on Tuesday, April 13, after being rescued from a large fish tank at a local Homestead business.
Authorities say that the incident occurred at 22275 SW 272nd Street. The company is known as Atlantic Sapphire, a sustainable salmon farm that uses a recirculating aquaculture system. Miami-Dade Fire Chief Jason Richard said some sort of fume was released while the workers were in the tank. Though firefighters were able to rescue the workers, all of them were transported to an area medical center in serious condition.
Officials with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the Miami-Dade Police Department are investigating.
