Miami, FL – Fatal Vehicle Wreck at 97th Ave & 21st St Under Inquiry

Miami, FL (December 9, 2023) – On Friday morning in a neighborhood in Southwest Miami-Dade, a pickup truck was being pursued by an officer investigating a theft at a local convenience store when it crashed into a work van.

According to Detective Andre Martin, a police spokesperson who talked to media at the scene of the accident, the collision occurred at around 8:00 a.m. at the junction of Southwest 97th Avenue and 21st Street. The crash killed one person and severely injured the driver and passenger of the van, per Miami-Dade police. Two others fled the scene of the incident, and as of late Friday afternoon, officers were actively searching for them. No word yet from the authorities on whether or not the deceased was the truck’s driver.
