Johns County, FL - Major Traffic Crash with Semi Causes Injuries on I-95

Johns County, FL (January 28, 2021) – A major traffic accident was reported to have occurred on an interstate in Johns County on January 25 that involved five vehicles, including one tractor-trailer. The incident took place on Interstate 95 in the late evening hours.

Four people reportedly sustained serious injuries in the crash. They were transported from the scene to area hospitals via ambulance and helicopter for the treatment of their injuries. Sources indicate that a tractor-trailer was attempting to make a u-turn on the interstate when the incident occurred.

The semi was being driven by a 57-year-old man. He was trying to make a u-turn in the middle lane when a van collided with the rear-end of his truck. The collision caused a chain reaction, and a third vehicle crashed into the rear-end of the van.

A fourth vehicle then collided with the right backside of the van, and a fifth and final vehicle crashed into the rear of the fourth, rotated clockwise, and again collided with the fourth vehicle.

The van’s driver, identified as a male Fort Lauderdale resident, aged 26, as well as his passenger, a 75-year-old female from Dania Beach were transported from the scene via ambulance with serious injuries.

One victim involved in the collision required transportation by helicopter to Memorial Hospital. The third vehicle was driven by a woman, aged 82, who was accompanied by an 81-year-old man, both from Maryland. They were both seriously injured in the crash and transported to Flagler hospital by ambulance for treatment.

A 23-year-old female St. Augustine resident was driving the fourth vehicle, and a 27-year-old also from St. Augustine was driving the fifth. Neither of them sustained injuries.

We would like to offer our thoughts to everyone involved in this traffic collision in Johns County in hopes of a full recovery.
