Ft Lauderdale, FL – Woman Killed in Head-on Collision on SR 285

Fort Lauderdale, FL (February 12, 2024) – An Alabama woman was killed, and a Fort Lauderdale man was seriously injured in a head-on collision Sunday night.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, it happened near mile marker 16 on State Road 285 at about 7:00 p.m. Troopers said a 70-year-old man from Fort Lauderdale was traveling south on State Road 285, and a 49-year-old Alabama woman was traveling north when they collided in a head-on wreck. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other driver was hospitalized. No further details have been released, but the crash remains under investigation.
