Ft Lauderdale, FL - Fatal House Fire on Dewey St Under Inquiry

Fort Lauderdale, FL (January 22, 2024) – One person has died as the result of a residential fire in Hollywood that occurred early Monday morning, January 22.

According to police, a 911 call about the fire came in around 5:30 a.m. When firefighters arrived at the residence on Dewey Street near South 16th Avenue, they found flames in the rear of the house. They were able to contain the fire and then extinguish it within an hour. One person was taken to Memorial Regional Hospital, where they succumbed to their injuries. The cause of the fire is still under investigation in the interim.
