Shocking Experience At New Aldi Construction

A routine day at work became anything but that recently when a local man suffered serious injuries during electrical work at a new Aldi grocery store and was taken to the hospital for treatment of serious burns on his upper body. The man is an employee of an air conditioning company and was working on rewiring an air conditioning unit when he suffered an electrical shock. While facts about this electrical incident are sparse, sadly, these and other types of accidents occur quite frequently in the construction industry, particularly when there are many individual components of the construction work going on at the same time. In some cases, it can become difficult to determine exactly what the cause of a particular incident may have been and whether it was the result of several different factors.

HVAC Dangers

There are dangers associated with most lines of work – some are more obvious than others. However, it is not difficult to imagine that working in the HVAC trade has its own set of dangers. Some potentially fatal hazards may include electrocution, exposure to dangerous gasses and chemicals, and falling; other situations that may be less likely to lead to a fatality but serious just the same could involve the risk of working around insect nests such as wasps or hornets, exposure to the elements as a result of working in both hot and cold harsh weather and, as was the case with the Aldi store incident, getting burned.

Burns, Scarring, And Contractures

A severe burn is one of the most devastating injuries one can suffer; recovery is often long and painful and, many times, the victim may never fully recover. The scarring that results from an extreme burn is something that can potentially impact the victim for the remainder of his or her life. There are several things that a burn victim can do to try to minimize the chances of scarring, including wearing pressure garments and physical therapy; but the worse the burn, the greater the likelihood that at least some scarring will occur, despite best efforts to prevent it. Contractures, a serious complication of burns that occur when a burn scar worsens and prevents movement, may make even everyday tasks difficult to accomplish without assistance. It is quite possible in some cases plastic surgery is necessary to correct the scarring and contractures in order to resume normal activities.
