Miami, FL – Man Killed in Pedestrian Crash on Turnpike

Miami, FL (July 18, 2021) – A man was killed following a pedestrian accident on Florida’s Turnpike on Saturday, July 17th. The crash happened in Southwest Miami-Dade County.

According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol, a man was driving a gray Mercedes-Benz on the Turnpike when he lost control of his vehicle and collided with a concrete barrier. As he exited his vehicle, he began walking along the Turnpike when he was struck by a tractor-trailer. The man, who was not immediately identified, died at the crash scene. The driver of the tractor-trailer was also not identified.

The accident resulted in the southbound lanes being closed while an investigation was ongoing. Traffic was diverted away from the area.

There is no word on whether any charges are expected to be filed. No further details have been released.
