If my seatbelt was not buckled when the driver of the car I was riding in caused an accident that injured me can I sue for damages?

Transcript

When you’re involved in an accident and you’re not wearing your seat belt, you could still sue the driver of the car. However, you will not be allowed to recover for damages that would’ve been prevented had you been wearing your seat belt. But, those injuries that you would’ve received whether you would’ve had your seat belt on or not are still recoverable from the at-fault party.
