Fatal Car Accidents in Florida

Fatal car accidents continue to be a major problem in Florida. In 2019, more than 3,100 people were tragically killed due to crashes on our state’s roadways. Pedestrians are especially vulnerable victims as they have nothing to shield them from the force and impact of a serious accident. More than 80% of people involved in Florida pedestrian accidents can expect to suffer some type of injury while about 10% of pedestrian crash victims will be killed, many of them due to the actions of a negligent driver.

In the aftermath of a pedestrian accident in Florida, you are likely to have questions regarding your legal rights. Under Florida law, you could be entitled to relief if your loved one was killed in a crash that was not their fault. Florida’s wrongful death statute allows family members to pursue a wrongful death claim if the crash directly resulted in the loss of their loved one. A wrongful death lawsuit can help relatives obtain much-needed compensation during a difficult time.
