Northwest Miami-Dade, FL – Anthony Johnson Hurt in Hit-and-Run Bicycle Crash

Northwest Miami-Dade, FL (August 8, 2021) – A 29-year-old bicyclist was injured in a hit-and-run accident that took place in Northwest Miami-Dade. The crash was reported Sunday on Northwest 27th Avenue.

According to a report, Anthony Johnson was riding his bike on Northwest 27th when a black SUV made a sharp right turn. The SUV struck Jackson, throwing him off his bike. He came to rest on the pavement. The SUV driver then left the scene before police arrived. Johnson was treated by rescue crews before being airlifted to Jackson Memorial Hospital for treatment of serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

Following an investigation, police located the driver of the SUV, later identified as 56-year-old Jean Rene. Officers took Rene into custody and charged him with leaving the scene of an injury crash, among other charges.
