Miami Car Accidents

According to statistics maintained by the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, there were nearly 65,000 car accidents in Miami in 2019. This number was down slightly from the year before, although the number of fatal crashes reported in 2019 ticked up slightly. These statistics make Miami one of the more dangerous cities in the nation for motorists, given the number of negligent drivers who travel in the area. Driver and all others who are near the roadways should use high levels of care and caution at all times in order to lower the risk of being involved in an accident.

Although some crashes are preventable, many are not. This is due to the fact that a large number of Miami car accidents are caused by negligent drivers. The actions of these drivers often result in injuries to innocent drivers and passengers. In 2019, there were about 250,000 injury accidents reported in Florida. In many cases, the injuries from an accident will linger, causing frustration for months after the accident itself. If you were not at fault for the crash and the resulting injuries, you may have a claim against the other driver.

Under Florida law, injured motorists can seek to recover their damages resulting from the crash, including payment for pain and suffering, lost wages, medical bills, and potentially more. Florida car accident law is complicated and these cases should only be handled by an attorney with knowledge of the area.
