Miami, FL - Seven Hurt in Seaplane Accident Near PortMiami on MacArthur

Miami, FL (February 23, 2024) – On Friday afternoon, seven individuals were rescued following an incident involving a seaplane near PortMiami on the MacArthur Causeway. At approximately 1:40 p.m., the single-engine Cessna 208 inverted during landing at the Miami Seaplane Base, as reported by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

Reports of the crash were received by law enforcement at approximately 2:20 p.m., which prompted the response of three Miami-Dade Police Harbor Patrol vessels that were in the vicinity conducting routine cruise ship security. MDPD Harbor Patrol promptly rescued the seven passengers onboard the aircraft upon its arrival. Shortly after that, a Miami-Dade Fire Rescue vessel arrived to conduct medical assessments and transport to the hospital. The FAA, the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), and Miami-Dade Police are investigating the accident.

Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their loved ones.
