Miami, FL – Man Hit, Killed By Hit-and-Run Driver at 31st Ave

Miami, FL - Man Hit, Killed By Hit-and-Run Driver at 31st Ave

Miami, FL (October 11, 2023) – A hit-and-run accident occurred on Sunday near Tamarac, and the Broward Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide Unit is now investigating and asking the public for help.

Broward County Regional Communications received a report of a driver hitting a person at around 10:55 p.m. near the intersection of Northwest 31st Avenue and West Commercial Boulevard. BSO officers and firefighters from neighboring Tamarac responded shortly thereafter.

Initial reports indicate that a man was crossing the street southbound when a driver struck him as he neared the sidewalk.

EMTs attempted life-saving measures but pronounced the man dead before he could be taken to a hospital.

The driver fled the scene, though local surveillance footage shows the suspect was behind the wheel of a silver sedan or a small SUV. There were pieces of a car, notably the passenger side headlight assembly, located at the site, which may indicate that the suspect’s vehicle had front passenger side damage.

The police have issued a public appeal for any information the public may have.  Witnesses were asked to contact Detective Carlos De Jesus with the Broward Sheriff’s Office.

Our sincere condolences are extended to the deceased man’s loved ones.
