Miami, FL – Injuries Reported in Condo Fire at 14th Ave & Miami Gardens

Miami, FL - Injuries Reported in Condo Fire at 14th Ave & Miami Gardens

Miami, FL (October 10, 2023) – On Tuesday morning, a fire broke out at a condominium complex in Northeast Miami-Dade, forcing occupants to flee.

According to Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, the fire broke out on the 14th Avenue and Northeast Miami Gardens Drive building at the Wilshire Condominium.

Smoke spread throughout the building when a fire broke out in the electrical closet, authorities said, requiring the evacuation of residents. Fire rescue personnel had declared the structure hazardous, and residents were spotted evacuating.

There are about 200 apartments in the 10-story skyscraper. EMTs also responded and treated several people for minor injuries and smoke inhalation, though the total number of victims is not known.

A code compliance statement citing violations was posted on the door, warning residents that the structure needed to be fixed or removed due to “falling away building material and hazardous electrical or mechanical installations.”

The cause of the fire is yet unknown, according to authorities and construction workers.

Our thoughts are with the injured and their loved ones. We hope that they will make a complete recovery.
